ABOUT
Recently, MFA partnered with the Australian 18 Footers League (known as the 18 Footers) for an over-water renovation project. This project involved the construction of a new deck for an existing registered club, designed to enhance the venue’s outdoor dining experience. Built using traditional timber construction methods, the deck features a custom aluminium and glass balustrade system that can be raised on windy days and nights using a counterweight mechanism, providing an effective weather barrier and improved dining experience.
The works were completed while the club remained fully operational, with minimal disruption to patrons. Since completion, the new deck has contributed to increased patronage. A commercial-grade umbrella system was also installed, offering protection from strong sunlight and light to moderate rainfall – further extending the deck’s year-round usability.
